He was buried on 8 MAY 1954 in Fairview Cem., Canoe Twp., Indiana Co., PA. Found his grave at Fairview Cemitary and video taped it. John wnet west to work with the big timber, worked at a sawmill and logging camp when he first arrived then moved into building. Mary States States family reunion 2001.

He was married to May Ola Bartlebaugh on 20 NOV 1906 in Lebanon, OR. May Ola Bartlebaugh was born on 12 MAY 1889 in Banks Twp. Indiana Co PA. She died on 23 JAN 1981 in Montgomery Twp., Indiana Co., PA. She was buried on 26 JAN 1981 in Fairview Cem., Canoe Twp., Indana Co., PA. Some sources list her name as Mae. However in the graduation book of Kieth States, she signed it as May. John Tecumseh States and May Ola Bartlebaugh had the following children:
